SKINR on ESI: color outside the lines
Colorful capsuleers,
Somewhere in New Eden, a SKINR creator is nudging a pattern half a degree to the left until it sits exactly right; a ship undocks wearing the finished design; and a SKINdustrialist makes a decent chunk of PLEX selling it to excited capsuleers. SKINR and the Paragon Hub have enabled these activities since the Equinox expansion, and starting with the 2026-08-18 compatibility date, so does ESI.
Eight new routes have been added, containing the full details of any design, a character’s SKINR inventory, as well as Paragon Hub listings available to them.
The market is open for business
The Paragon Hub is the marketplace for SKINRs and components. Routes under /paragon-hub/skinr provide paginated lists of everything on sale.
Some listings are available to the general public and some can be aimed at a specific character, a corporation, or an alliance, and each of those has its own route. Sellers also get a route for their own listings at GET /characters/{character_id}/paragon-hub/skinr.
Worth noting: listings stay visible for a while after they sell out or expire, showing their final status. That makes price history easier to put together.
The recipe
GET /cosmetics/skinr/{skinr_id} is a public route that provides the name, author, and other attributes of a design, and describes it in full, down to every shade of color and where each pattern sits.
ESI now provides enough information to visualize a design. Incidentally, EVE Online’s engine is now open-source, including the Trinity graphics module. Wink wink.
What a character owns
Of course you also want to know what SKINR licenses your characters own and what components you already have available to produce a new batch of your favorite SKINR designs. This information is now available under /characters/{character_id}/cosmetics/skinr.
Names are in static data
The routes only contain IDs because names are localized. The static data export now contains a set of skinr files, helping you put a name to the ID you receive from ESI.
Wrapping up
The OpenAPI specs and the API Explorer contain all the details of these new routes. Questions, feedback, and screenshots of your creations are very welcome in #3rd-party-dev-and-esi-chat on the official EVE Online Discord.
Cheers,
Your friendly developers of the EVE SKINR Ingenuity (working title)
